Body of student arrives in SA from China

Thousands of rands were raised to bring back the body of a South African student who passed away in China in September.

The body of Lusanda Sixaxeni (27) from Mossel Bay, who passed away in China on September 12, has been brought home.

She had been working in China as an English teacher for the last three years.

The family managed to raise about R400 000 to bring Lusanda’s body to South Africa.

The body arrived in the country on Monday night, and it arrived at the family’s home in Bokwe Street, KwaNonqaba, in Mossel Bay yesterday.

Mossel Bay residents and other South Africans helped the family after they made it known they could not afford the cost of bringing the body home.

If the KwaNonqaba family could not bring the body home, it would have had to be cremated, which is against the family’s beliefs.

Lusanda was a former Point High School learner. The cause of her death is not yet known.

The funeral will take place on Saturday.
