Body parts found on highway
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the scattered body parts of an unidentified woman believed to have been involved in a car accident were found on the N2 highway.
A severed leg and other body parts were discovered on the southbound lane near the old Durban International Airport on Monday morning, Southlands Sun reported
“Umlazi SAPS confirmed they received a call this morning of a human leg lying in the road on the N2 southbound near the old Durban International Airport. On further investigation, they found other scattered body parts,” Brighton Beach police spokesperson Captain Louise Le Roux said.
Vehicle parts, including a number plate and other items, were also found on the scene.
“A vehicle number plate, shattered windscreen glass, a vehicle licence disk and a VW Golf GTI badge were recovered,” Le Roux added
The exact time of the incident has not yet been determined. Police were on the scene, and several lanes of a 200m stretch of the N2, before the Isipingo off-ramp have been closed off.
In July last year, body parts belonging to a woman were found on the N3, Durban Bound, just before the Pavilion in Westville.
KwaZulu-Natal police said the woman’s head and leg were found by a passerby, who then notified police. According to South Africa Community Action Network (SA CAN) member Andreas Mathios, the woman was hit by a motorist who failed to stop.
