Body parts left on residents’ doorsteps in Pretoria
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said the box contained two human fingers and a human ear in addition to a threatening letter.
Two residents at the Pienaarspoort informal settlement to the east of Mamelodi got a nasty surprise when someone left body parts on their doorsteps overnight, Rekord East reports.
The grisly discovery was made by a woman and one of her neighbours on Tuesday morning.
Boschkop police spokesperson Constable Yeroboam Mbatsane has confirmed the incident and said a case had been opened at the station.
The identity of the person from which the parts were taken is unknown, however.
“We have not received any complaints about missing persons over the past few weeks,” said Mbatsane.
The woman, who made the gruesome discovery, said she woke up in the morning to find a gift tin box on her doorstep.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said the box contained two human fingers and a human ear in addition to a threatening letter.
At the same time, a resident living nearby found a similar box on his doorstep.
This box contained a severed hand missing the two fingers found at the woman’s residence.
Now residents in the area say they are living in fear because they don’t know whom might be behind this incident.
They are also unhappy that it reportedly took the police about four hours to respond to their calls.
Mbatsane said police would investigate the accusations about the belated response.
He also asked for the residents’ help in the case.
Anyone with useful information can feel free to contact the Boschkop police station or 08600-10-111.
Calls can be made anonymously.
