Boksburg man arrested for child pornography

A 39-year-old car salesman was yesterday arrested in Boksburg, on the East Rand, for the possession of child pornography.

The man was arrested at his workplace, an unnamed car dealership, after police established that he had child pornography stored on his laptop, Boksburg Advertiser reported.

The suspect is alleged to have taken as many as 50 pictures of the victim in naked poses before advertising them online. The child’s mother was oblivious of her boyfriend’s alleged actions.

“After receiving and following up on information from their US colleagues, the specialised team working for the South African Police Service’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, arrested the suspect,” said Naidoo.

The police’s specialised investigation team searched the car dealership in Boksburg.

The police then raided his house and seized three laptops, two external hard drives, two cellphones, memory cards, a DVD and a mini spy-camera, all believed to belong to him.

He has been charged with the manufacturing, possession and distribution of child porn and is due to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on Friday, October 2.
