Budget Speech 2022: Business ‘cautiously optimistic’
President Cyril Ramaphosa said during his state of the nation address that business creates jobs, not government.
Businesses have indicated that they are cautiously optimistic about this year’s annual budget speech.
The Citizen reports this comes as the world is currently experiencing synchronised global growth as it attempts to return to post-pandemic normal. And while business applauded the President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (Sona), it is now waiting for Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana to complete the picture.
Godongwana will deliver this year’s budget speech today at 14:00.
Kerry Fynn, Alpha Holdings CEO and YPO Africa member, told The Citizen that the local business mood can be compared with the global mood, saying there is reason to be cautiously optimistic, as the world is currently experiencing synchronised global growth as it attempts to return to post-pandemic normal.
