Burnley’s Lyle Foster ruled out while undergoing mental health treatment
The Premier League club has confirmed why the South African striker has been absent in the last few matches.
Burnley Football Club has revealed that South African striker Lyle Foster is struggling with his mental well-being and has been placed in the care of medical specialists to assist him deal with the issue, despite his impressive start in the Premier League.

The Bafana Bafana star has been performing well for his side in their bid to get out of the relegation zone, scoring three goals and providing two assists in seven Premier League appearances.
He did, however, miss the team’s last two league games against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, as well as the English Football League Cup encounter against Everton. The club has now spoken out regarding the player’s absence.
In a statement, the club said: “On behalf of Lyle Foster and his family, they have asked us to share with you an update on Lyle’s illness. Recently, Lyle let us know that he continues to live with issues around his mental wellbeing and has reached out for help.”

“He is currently in the care of specialists – giving him the support and care he needs to help him back to full health,” the club added.
“With the love and support of his family and everyone at Burnley Football Club we will do all we can to provide everything he needs to get better.”
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has also spoken out and said the club was prepared to do anything to help Foster get over issues.

Foster was selected in the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the forthcoming 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Benin in Durban tomorrow, and Rwanda away from home on November 21. Because of this recent development, he is anticipated to be left out of coach Hugo Broos’ final team, which will be selected today.
