Car chase leads to four arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle
“The suspects collided with a pole on Rossouw Street but kept on driving.”

A car chase by law enforcement has led to the arrest of four men at the Simon Vermooten off ramp in Silverton on Friday afternoon.
Hawks spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, said units such as Crime Intelligence and the special task force, acted on information about a hijacked vehicle and pounced on the group.
“The team observed the identified vehicle on the N4 west. The suspects tried to evade the team by driving into residential areas and back onto the N4 but the team stayed on their heels,” she said.
“The suspects collided with a pole on Rossouw Street but kept on driving. On Simon Vermooten off ramp, the team successfully cornered the suspects and they all were arrested.
Mogale said the vehicle is reported to have been hijacked in Acornhoek in February this year.
Two cellphones, a gate remote and heavy-duty gloves were recovered inside the vehicle.
“Information received was operationalised by the members of Tactical Operations Management Section of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation with the assistance of Crime Intelligence, Tracker Connect, Special Task Force and the SAPS Airwing,” she said.
The four, aged between 25 and 32, will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Monday.
They will face a charge of possession of a suspected hijacked motor vehicle.
“The Hawks are not ruling out the possibility of the suspects being linked to other crimes committed in the Tshwane area,” Mogale said.
