Cash-in-transit mastermind killed in Hibberdene
A man, believed to be the mastermind behind cash-in-transit heists, was killed at a housing complex on KZN's South Coast.
A 35-year old suspected cash-in-transit mastermind believed to be from the Eastern Cape, was killed in a shootout with KZN police in Hibberdene yesterday.
It is alleged that the man had been evading police, until he was located at a housing complex.
It is believed the man opened fire on the team, comprising of the DPCI anti-gang unit and tracking team, Pietermaritzburg K9, Mayville Crime Prevention, Newlands detectives and Magma Security and Investigations.
A firearm was recovered. No further arrests have been made.
An official police statement is awaited.
