Centurion woman raped during house robbery

A 31-year-old woman has been raped and robbed in her house after two men stormed into her house in Vlakplaas, Centurion, in Gauteng.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the woman was raped in her bedroom when the two suspects broke into her house on Sunday morning, Rekord Centurion reported.

The suspects pointed a firearm at the victim and ordered her to undress, added Moloto.

“One man raped her, and thereafter they took her cellphone, clothing and jewellery before fleeing the scene. The items are estimated to a value of R5 000,” said Moloto.

Cases of house robbery and rape have been opened

No arrests have been made.

“We appeal to the public or any person with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to contact their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Moloto said.

In a separate incident, a woman was raped during a housebreaking in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal in February.

“The suspect is alleged to have ransacked the residence before forcing the woman into the bedroom where he raped her. The suspect then fled the home after stealing one kilogram of meat,” said head of private security company, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), Prem Balram.

RUSA officers went in search of the suspect. However, no arrests were made, added Balram.
