An eight year old child has died after a drowning incident at Port Edward on Saturday.

An eight year old child has died after a drowning incident at Port Edward Saturday afternoon.

Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service responded to a resort in Port Edward for reports of a drowning.

When paramedics arrived they found that NSRI Port Edward had started CPR on an eight year old child that had drowned in a pool.

According to Craig Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service, Advanced Life Support Paramedics took over the resuscitation of the child and were able to successfully get the child’s heart beating again.

“The child was rushed to a local hospital with advanced life support intervention,” he added.

Despite all the efforts of medics and hospital staff, the child deteriorated and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
