MEC calls for motorists to stay vigilant and obey the rules of the road after a crash on the R581 left four people dead and 14 others injured.

Four people lost their lives in a collision involving a minibus taxi and bakkie on the R581 between Malalane and KaMhlushwa yesterday, reports Mpumalanga News.

The driver of the taxi and three passengers, including a child estimated to be two years old, died on the scene.

Fourteen people – 11 from the taxi and three from the bakkie – sustained moderate to serious injuries and were transported to Shongwe Hospital.

Jackie Macie, Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, security and liaison, has appealed to motorists to be vigilant and obey the rules of the road to avoid deadly crashes. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
