Construction commences on damaged road after April floods

Shaun Hammond, from the Silverglen Conservancy’s disaster wing, said that he is pleased to note that work on the road has already commenced.

Residents living in and travelling along the vicinity of Silverglen Drive, where the road washed away during the storm in April, can breathe a sigh of relief since the area’s construction began, this week, Rising Sun Chatstworth reports.

The eThekwini Municipality’s engineering unit began construction on Monday, and residents and drivers are urged to be patient during the 16-week project.

Shaun Hammond, from the Silverglen Conservancy’s disaster wing, said that he is pleased to note that work on the road has already commenced.

“Lots of engineers put their minds together to design the flow of the water table that has affected that particular spot. There is complicated work involved as the stormwater flows towards the stream in Parkside Road and flows between several houses,” he said.

Hammond urged residents to be patient with the contractors as the damage was extensive.
