Couple arrested for murder of 2 boys in Soweto

The children were found in separate locations last week, and some of their body parts were missing.

A couple was arrested in Soweto this morning in connection with the gruesome discovery of the bodies of two boys last week.

Nqobizitha Zulu (5) and Tshiamo Rabanye (6) were reported missing on Wednesday, April 19. A community patroller in White City said at the time, that a white car was chasing three boys who were playing near Thokoza Park. One of the boys managed to escape.

A wide-scale search was launched after the boys’ disappearance, leading to the discovery of their bodies with some parts missing, on April 20. A task team was established by the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela.

The team took in two suspects for questioning yesterday after a forensic investigation at the boys’ homes.

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo says in a press release that a 50-year-old woman and her 39-year-old partner have been arrested for the murders and will appear in court on Friday.
