Covid-19: A round-up of statistics over the last 5 days
Recoveries have remained at a steady 95 per cent over the past five days, with 1 459 894 recoveries recorded since the start of the pandemic.

New Covid-19 cases have shown a slight increase this week in comparison to last week, with an average of 1 109 new cases over the past five days.
On 17 March, the highest number of new cases over the past five days were seen with 1 531 new cases recorded, while only 613 new cases were recorded on 15 March.
A total of 177 275 healthcare workers had received vaccination as of 18 March, a steady increase of 31 731 since 14 March.

KwaZulu-Natal still leads as the province with the highest number of active cases, sitting at 6 246 on 18 March, followed by the Western Cape with 4 947 and Gauteng with 2 862. The Eastern Cape remains the province with the lowest number of active cases sitting at 285 on 18 March, up by only four cases since 14 March.
The country recorded an average of 93 deaths over the past five days, with the highest number of deaths recorded on 16 March (139).
