Covid-19 cases in SA rise to 690 896
Some 2 364 new infections were recorded on Saturday and 126 more people have died.

South Africa now has 690 896 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Saturday.
This is an increase of 2 364 new infections which was one of the highest daily jumps in the past two months.
There were 126 more deaths recorded, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 17 673.
According to data released by the Department of Health, 622 153 recoveries have been recorded to date. In total, 4 388 171 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.
The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Saturday:
– Western Cape: 112 667 cases
– Gauteng: 222 745 cases
– KwaZulu-Natal: 120 295 cases
– Eastern Cape: 90 686 cases
– Limpopo: 16 233 cases
– Mpumalanga: 28 115 cases
– North West: 30 715 cases
– Northern Cape: 18 888 cases
– Free State: 50 552 cases
