Covid-19 cases in South Africa now at 124 590

The number of Covid-19 recoveries in South Africa now stands at 64 111 translating to a recovery rate of 51,5%.

As of yesterday, 26 June, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa is at 124 590 with 6 215 new cases identified.

The case data per province is as follows:

Eastern Cape:

  • 21 938 confirmed cases
  • 17,6% of the country total
  • 371 deaths
  • 11 349 recoveries

Free State:

  • 1 069 confirmed cases
  • 0.9% of the country total
  • 9 deaths
  • 318 recoveries

Gauteng:

  • 31 344 confirmed cases
  • 25,2% of the country total
  • 149 deaths
  • 7 132 recoveries

KwaZulu-Natal:

  • 7 090 confirmed cases
  • 5,7% of the country total
  • 106 deaths
  • 3 197 recoveries

Limpopo:

  • 798 confirmed cases
  • 0,6% of the country total
  • 5 deaths
  • 348 recoveries

Mpumalanga:

  • 855 confirmed cases
  • 0,7% of the country total
  • 2 deaths
  • 239 recoveries

North West:

  • 3 218 confirmed cases
  • 2,6% of the country total
  • 5 death
  • 421 recoveries

Northern Cape:

  • 337 confirmed cases
  • 0.3% of the country total
  • 1 death
  • 128 recoveries

Western Cape:

  • 57 941 confirmed cases
  • 46,5% of the country total
  • 1 692 deaths
  • 40 979 recoveries

Unallocated cases:

  • 0 confirmed cases
  • 0.0% of the country total

A total number of 1 493 104 Covid-19 tests have been processed of which 33 092 tests have been conducted since the last report.

The Department of Health reports 48 more Covid-19 related deaths:

  • 8 in Eastern Cape
  • 40 in Western Cape

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in South Africa to 2 340.

The current mortality rate is at 1.9%.
