Covid-19: Death toll for South Africa is now at 1 737

As of June 18, South Africa recorded 3 478 new positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 83 890.

The Western Cape still takes the lead with 47 522 cases. The province accounts for 56.6 per cent of all cases.

Gauteng stands at 15 898 cases and accounts for 19 per cent of all cases, followed by Eastern Cape with 12 639 cases and 15.1 per cent of all cases.
The country recorded a further 63 Covid-19-related deaths, six in the Eastern Cape and 57 in the Western Cape.

The death toll now stands at 1 737, with a mortality rate of 2.1 per cent.

The number of recoveries is 44 920, which is a 53.5 per cent recovery rate. By June 18, 1 228 098 tests had been conducted
