Covid-19: Gauteng cases climb to 133 617
More than 5 000 new cases recorded in the province since Saturday.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 133 617 with 66 374 recoveries and 986 deaths as of Sunday.
The Department of Health on Monday said out of 53 985 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 37 125 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.
Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:
- Johannesburg: 58 301 cases and 32 670 recoveries
- Ekurhuleni: 29 887 cases and 17 769 recoveries
- Tshwane: 24 036 cases and 10 446 recoveries
- Sedibeng: 7 906 cases and 1 583 recoveries
- West Rand: 8 835 cases and 3 906 recoveries

- And 91 unallocated cases.
On the repeated areas in the stats, the department has not yet clarified on why these suburbs were mentioned more than once.
