Covid-19: Mpumalanga death toll rises to 520 while active cases stand at 724
South Africa has recorded 674 339 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Wednesday, September 30. A total of 27 263 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 26 019 recoveries and 520 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District
- Bushbuckridge: 869 cases, 788 recoveries and 17 deaths
- City of Mbombela: 4 891 cases, 4 593 recoveries and 44 deaths
- Nkomazi: 2 069 cases, 1 998 recoveries and 36 deaths
- Thaba Chweu: 428 cases and 388 recoveries and 10 deaths.
Gert Sibande District
- Chief Albert Luthuli: 730 cases, 702 recoveries and eight deaths
- Dipaliseng: 341 cases and 328 recoveries and eight death
- Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 939 cases, 915 recoveries and 18 deaths
- Govan Mbeki: 3 612 cases, 3 536 recoveries and 32 deaths
- Lekwa: 1 134 cases, 1 065 recoveries and 59 deaths
- Mkhondo: 539 cases, 503 recoveries and 28 deaths
- Msukaligwa: 1 614 cases, 1 503 recoveries and 45 deaths.
Nkangala District
- Dr JS Moroka: 394 cases, 379 recoveries and nine deaths
- eMakhazeni: 452 cases and 422 recoveries and 17 deaths
- eMalahleni: 5 463 cases, 5 278 recoveries and 99 deaths
- Steve Tshwete: 2 702 cases, 2 578 recoveries and 60 deaths
- Thembisile Hani: 632 cases, 600 recoveries and 20 deaths
- Victor Khanye: 454 cases and 443 recoveries and 10 deaths.
