Divers recover boy’s body from river near Secunda

The police were alerted of the situation after local community members saw the boy's body in the river.

The body of a boy was found in the Welamlambo River at Gate 5, eMbalenhle outside Secunda on Tuesday.

The child appears to be about 8 years old. Community members saw the little boy’s body in the river and alerted the police.

Delta 1 Rescue Diving and the Mpumalanga Inland Water Police recovered the body.

ER24 ambulance services, the eMbalenhle Police and the municipal fire department assisted on the scene.

The boy’s identity was still unknown at time of publishing. The police are investigating the cause of death.
