A mother and her son were rushed to hospital after being rescued by metro police during a dog attack in Boshoff Street on The Bluff in Durban earlier today.

Garrith Jamieson, the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services, says metro police were at the scene when the paramedics arrived.

“A mom in her 30s and her three-year-old son were walking up the road when a Rottweiler, which escaped from its yard, viciously attacked them. Metro police, who were in the area, intervened and rescued them.

“Paramedics found both mom and son to have sustained serious injuries to their lower limbs and backs as a result of the attack. Advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise them on the scene before they were rushed to a nearby hospital for further care,” says Jamieson.

He adds that the metro police and SAPS are investigating the incident.
