Dog shot in the head with pellet gun: Investigation continues

The Garden Route SPCA’s (GRSPCA) investigation into a matter of animal cruelty continues after a dog from Bergplaas was shot with a pellet gun.

Field officer Elfonzo Bruiners responded to the scene and discovered a terrified dog hiding in a resident’s home on March 3.

The beautiful dog, called Ted, was immediately taken to the GRSPCA clinic where he received the necessary treatment from the veterinary team.

X-rays revealed multiple small pellets primarily concentrated in and around the dog’s head.

An eyewitness told the GRSPCA that a man shot Ted after he entered his yard and then callously threw him back over the fence.

“At the SPCA, we adamantly condemn such acts of animal abuse and cruelty. Rest assured, we will pursue justice in this matter, and charges will be filed accordingly.

“We stand firm in our commitment to protecting and advocating for the welfare of all animals, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions,” says GRSPCA senior inspector Salomé Bruyns.

Ted has fully recovered, though some bullets remain lodged inside. He is now available for adoption at the GRSPCA.
