Double murder in Mossel Bay
Police in Mossel Bay came across a gruesome scene this morning after the KwaNonqaba community found a suspected killer in his home last night and set fire to the house with the man still inside.
KwaNonqaba police have opened two separate murder dockets following the death of residents, Silindile Mkhaza (29) and Siphamandla Koni (25) in Mzola Street early this morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie says a preliminary investigation suggests that the two men were involved in an argument after which Koni allegedly stabbed Mkhaza with a knife in the back multiple times.
Pojie says community members who had witnessed the incident became outraged and allegedly torched the house of Koni, with him still in it.
He says Koni’s body was found after the Mossel Bay Fire Brigade extinguished the flames.
Pojie says they do not believe that any alcohol was used prior to the incidents and says it is at this stage impossible to say what the motive for the killings were.
