Durban Solid Waste tender saga set to continue

NPA spokesperson, Natasha Kara confirmed three additional ANC councillors were arrested on Wednesday last week.

The infamous Durban Solid Waste (DSW) corruption saga is set to continue on Tuesday, 23 March.

This will see former eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede, City Manager Sipho Nzuza, ANC councillor Mondli Mthembu and a string of other co-accused members returning to court on charges of fraud, corruption and racketeering relating to the R430-million tender scam.

This follows the arrest of three additional ANC councillors on Wednesday last week, confirmed NPA spokesperson, Natasha Kara.

The trio appeared in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday and were released on R15 000 bail, said Hawks spokesperson Col Katlego Mogale.

According to Mogale, the accused identified as Mthokozisi Nojiyesa, Bhekokwakhe Welcome Phewa and Sduduzo Khuzwayo, aged between 44 and 47, will join Gumede and the others in court tomorrow.
