Dyantyi makes long-awaited return

After testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, former Springbok winger Aphiwe Dyantyi was banned from rugby in December 2019.

The Sharks have officially announced the signing of Aphiwe Dyantyi, as the Springbok will make his return to professional rugby after completing a four-year ban.

The 13-cap Springbok was suspended from all rugby in December 2019 after failing to prove that he had inadvertently ingested the performance-enhancing substances methandienone, methyltestosterone, and LGD-4033.

In 2022, the Sharks were the team tipped to offer Dyantyi a road back to professional rugby once his suspension ends.

This morning, the Sharks confirmed that Dyantyi has signed for the franchise, taking a significant step in returning to the top level of rugby.

It has previously been reported that the former Lions wing will not be eligible for selection before August 12, but he can start training before the end of his ban.
