E-hailing drivers help police catch Pietermaritzburg hijackers

Cab drivers joined the search for a hijacked vehicle after hearing the news that one of their own had been hijacked and stabbed.

A dramatic chase by police, e-hailing drivers and a security company led to the recovery of a stolen e-hailing vehicle that was hijacked in the Pietermaritzburg CBD on Thursday afternoon.

News of the hijacking started circulating at 19:00.

The driver was found inside the car with multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

The car, which was damaged as a result of a crash, was found abandoned in Slangspruit.
