eMbalenhle learner stabbed multiple times at school

A Mpumalanga teenager has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another pupil during their lunch break.

A learner from Ikusasalethu Comprehensive School in eMbalenhle near Secunda was rushed to hospital after being stabbed allegedly by a fellow pupil on Tuesday (2 June), reports Ridge Times.

According to Sergeant Busi Mthethwa, spokesperson for the eMbalenhle police, officers arrested the alleged assailant.

Mthethwa said the victim was talking to a girl during break when another learner allegedly took out a knife and stabbed him several times on both sides of his neck. The victim then fell unconscious.

The victim was rushed to the eMbalenhle Extension 4 Clinic, Mthethwa said.

A nurse informed the victim that he had been stabbed 15 times and had sustained severe open stab wounds.

He was subsequently transferred to Evander Hospital for further treatment.

The suspected attacker has been charged with attempted murder.
