Equipment worth R120 000 stolen from Pretoria school
A school in Soshanguve, Pretoria, has been robbed after nine armed men tied up a security guard and stole items worth more than R120 000.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena confirmed 40 iPads, an amplifier, computers, flat-screen TVs, food and R1 300 in cash were stolen from Simpato Junior Secondary School on Saturday in Block HH, Rekord North reported.
“A security guard was on duty patrolling the school at about 1.15pm when a man approached him and pulled out a gun. The suspect ordered the guard to take him to one of the classrooms, and as he did, eight more suspects appeared and tied him up with shoelaces,” added Mangena.
Mangena said the robbers fled on foot, and the security guard was found still tied.
