Eskom announces daily load-shedding relief

Rolling power cults will be halted during the day as generation capacity improves.

Eskom says load-shedding will be suspended daily between 10:00 and 16:00.

That is according to the latest schedule, which indicates the slight reprieve will continue until Friday – bar any sudden changes to the power grid.

Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says the reprieve is due to ‘sustained generation performance and lower demand for electricity during the day’.

“Unplanned outages reduced to 13 250MW of generating capacity, while the capacity out of service for planned maintenance is at 7 921MW. Eskom power station general managers and their teams will continue to work diligently to ensure that the 1 340MW of generating capacity is returned to service by Friday,” she explains.
