Eskom announces load-shedding plan for the rest of the week

Some positive news as rolling power cuts will be suspended at times throughout the week.

Eskom’s latest load-shedding update is good news ahead of the Women’s Day public holiday tomorrow.

The power utility’s spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, says that rolling power cuts will be suspended between 05:00–16:00 daily, due to some improvement in generation capacity.

“Breakdowns are currently at 15 420MW of generating capacity, while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 3 841MW.”

Over the past 24 hours, three generating units – at Arnot, Camden and Lethabo power stations – were returned to service. In the same period, two generating units – at Kriel and Tutuka power stations – were taken offline for repairs.

Mokwena adds that current capacity constraints include the delay in returning two generating units at Kendal and a generating unit at Tutuka to service.
