Eskom provides weekend load-shedding outlook

Various stages of power cuts can be expected over the next few days.

Eskom says that though various stages of load-shedding are predicted throughout the weekend, no load-shedding is planned between midnight and 05:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

The power utility says breakdowns currently amount to 16 546MW, while 2 497MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.

Units at Arnot and Matla power stations have broken down and there are delays in returning units at Arnot, Grootvlei and Hendrina power stations to service. This is adding to the current shortage in generation capacity.

Weekend load-shedding:

Today:
  • Stage 3 from 16:00 – 00:00
Tomorrow:
  • No load-shedding from 00:00 – 05:00
  • Stage 1 from 05:00 – 16:00
  • Stage 4 from 16:00 – 00:00
Sunday:
  • No load-shedding from 00:00 – 05:00
  • Stage 1 from 05:00 – 16:00
  • Stage 4 from 16:00 – 00:00

The power utility says an update will be posted if changes occur.
