Family of murdered KZN doctor shaken by double tragedy
The husband of a paediatrician who was recently found dead in the boot of her car is in critical condition in hospital.
The Mkhize family, whose daughter, KZN paediatrician Dr Zamambo Siphokazi Mkhize, was found murdered in Imbali on Friday night, are now facing a double tragedy after her husband was admitted to the ICU at Grey’s Hospital on Monday morning.
At this stage, The Witness has not been able to ascertain the cause of Phumlani Mbeje’s (43) admission to the hospital, but it is understood that he is in a critical condition.
Dr Mkhize was found dead in the boot of her car in Imbali J-Section in Edendale.
Two health department sources told The Witness that Mbeje was admitted to a Hilton hospital but was later transferred to Grey’s due to his condition.
“One of the family members found Mbeje unconscious and he was rushed to hospital,” said the medical staffer.
