Find out how much your Sassa grant goes up next month
Pensioners and other social grant recipients will soon see a little extra in their pockets, as government moves to ease the financial strain on vulnerable groups.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed that all social grants will increase by R10 from next month.
The Witness reports that this follows Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s announcement in his February budget speech, when he outlined two increases for the 2025/26 financial year – the first in April and the second in October.
The new amounts are:
- Old Age Grant: R2 310 to R2 320
- Old Age Grant (over 75 years): R2 330 to R2 340
- War Veteran’s Grant: R2 330 to R2 340
- Disability Grant: R2 310 to R2 320
- Care Dependency Grant: R2 310 to R2 320
Sassa CEO Themba Matlou said the adjustment, though modest, is critical.
“This reaffirms the government’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships,” he said.
He added that Sassa is fully prepared for the October payment cycle.
“All eligible social grant beneficiaries will receive their grants without any interruption,” Matlou said.
Sassa also confirmed the October payment dates:
- Old Age Grants: October 2
- Disability Grants: October 3
- Children’s Grants: October 6
