Fire blazes in Joburg CBD

The cause of another fire in the central business district of Johannesburg is being investigated.

The City of Johannesburg’s Emergency Management Service has confirmed that no injuries or fatalities occurred when a detergent factory caught fire early yesterday afternoon.

Media liaison officer Xolile Khumalo confirmed the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Xolile encouraged residents to ensure that electrical appliances were switched off when not in use.

City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services firefighters and JMPD officers were deployed after a building in Eloff Street, near Hulbert and Selby streets in Johannesburg caught fire.

The northbound of Eloff Extension was closed off to traffic between Loveday and Laub streets.
