Four dead in separate shooting incidents in KZN

Two men and two women were shot dead in KZN over the weekend.

A bloody weekend in KZN has left the police with more questions than answers. In these separate incidents, four people were murdered while six others sustained injuries.

In the first incident, on Saturday, police found a man’s body with a gunshot wound to the head in Piet Retief Road, Margate at 22:45. Four people also sustained injuries during this incident.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said charges of murder and attempted murder were opened at Margate Police Station.

In the second incident, on Sunday, five people were travelling in a vehicle at Thongasi area in KwaNzimakwe when they were shot by unknown people.

“The 38-year-old driver and two female passengers, aged 30 and 35, were confirmed dead on the scene. Two passengers were injured and taken to hospital for medical attention,” said Gwala.

Three counts of murder and two of attempted murder were opened at Port Edward Police Station. The motive for the killings is unknown.
