Free State police arrested 34 suspects at the Southern Landfill Site, seizing drugs, ammunition, and stolen goods.

Free State police have arrested 34 suspects at the Southern Landfill Site during an operation targeting criminal activity in the area. The arrests led to the confiscation of drugs, a brand-new TV still in its packaging, a weigh scale, alcohol, and ammunition.

Bloemfontein Courant reports Free State police spokesperson Lorraine Earle says most of the suspects are foreign nationals residing at the landfill site.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that 31 of the arrested suspects are illegal immigrants residing at the landfill site. Further investigations are underway to determine whether any of the suspects are linked to other criminal activities,” Earle explains.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein and Batho magistrate’s courts today.
