Fuel to cost less from Wednesday
Motorists, squeeze every drop from your tank to avoid filling up until Wednesday when the price of petrol is set to drop.
While the Central Energy Fund’s (CEF) mid-month data for April predicted a possible petrol price increase in May, consumers can breathe easy after it was announced by the energy department that they will be paying less at the pumps from midnight on Tuesday.
Petrol will cost nine cents less per litre and diesel a pleasing 31 cents less per litre. Paraffin will decrease by 23 cents per litre and LP gas by R1.72 per kilogram.
The Automobile Association (AA) is hopeful the recent streak of price stability will continue to provide more price relief to fuel users in the months to come.
The association said fuel prices are officially calculated and adjusted on the first Wednesday of every month by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy.
“The AA relies on publicly available fuel price data from the CEF to compile its forecasts,” the entity said in its latest statement.
Fortunately for motorists, changing conditions meant CEF’s prediction of an increase did not come to pass and consumers will be handing over a little less when they fill up.
