Fugitive drug kingpin bust in Kempton Park
The arrest follows the uncovering of a drug lab in Pomona.
An alleged runaway drug kingpin has been nabbed by the Hawks’ SA Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) in Kempton Park, on the East Rand, reports the Kempton Express.
Hawks spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu said the suspect failed to hand himself in at the Hawks’ offices in Germiston as instructed by the authorities in December regarding a clandestine laboratory that was used to manufacture crystal meth in Pomona.
“Police raided the premises [on December 15] and seized drugs, chemicals and drug-manufacturing equipment at an estimated value of R3 million. Two Taiwanese, Chi-Yu Fan, 38, and Chi-Chin Fan, 31, and Mozambican duo, Orcidio Sitoe, 29, and Peter Ngwenya, 26, were arrested and charged with drug trafficking,” Mulamu said.
The quartet is still in custody and will again appear in court on February 10.
A warrant of arrest was issued by Benoni Magistrates’ Court for the 45-year-old Nigerian national when he failed to hand himself in with his legal representative.
He was arrested and will make a brief appearance in Benoni Magistrates’ Court today.
Gauteng Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head Major-General Prince Mokotedi commended the members responsible for nailing the alleged kingpin.
“We shall continue to tear apart the strongholds of druglords, as we remain unambiguous in our fight against drugs, as guided by our mandate,” he said
