Gate battery thefts spike in Durban

“It is best to keep the battery in the garage or any place safe where it can be monitored,” Andreas Mathios says.

According to Blue Security, the number of home batteries reported missing has increased, Highway Mail reports.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, advised residents to move gate batteries away from the gate.

“It is best to keep the battery in the garage or any place safe where it can be monitored,” he said.

According to Mathios, there has been a couple of arrests in the Pinetown area connected to battery thefts.

He added residents should take note when dogs bark.

“When your dogs bark, get up and check if you have CCTV camera check it first before going outside and call your security company to check,” he said.

He added that CCTV helps with identifying a suspect and increases chances of them being apprehended.

“Be alert when approaching your gate.”
