The Gauteng Department of Education has taken the opportunity to remind parents that online applications for Grades 1 and 8 will close tomorrow, 25 July.
All parents who still need to apply for a position for either of these grades would need to urgently visit www.gdeadmissions.gov.za to ensure that they get their application in on time.
Edward Mosuwe, Head of the Department of Education, informed parents that all supporting documents could now be submitted online, to reduce necessary movement.
As the Gauteng Provincial Command Council gave their weekly update, Dr Bandile Masuku, MEC for the Department of Health confirmed that 4 021 public servants in the healthcare and education sectors had tested positive for Covid-19, while 14 had sadly lost their lives.
Mosuwe advised on attendance levels of learners and educators in the past few weeks of school.

As per President Cyril Ramaphosa’s pronouncement on 23 July, schools will remain closed for 4 weeks, to reduce the spread of Covid-19 among learners. Grade 12 learners would only take a one week break, while Grade 7 learners would take a two week break.
