Gauteng Covid-19 active cases at 15 411

About 91 new cases recorded.

Gauteng’s overall Covid-19 positive cases climbed to 229 040 with 208 801 recoveries and 4 828 deaths thus far, according to figures published by the Department of Health.

This saw the province having about 15 411 active cases.

Out of a total of 152 024  contacts traced (these are individuals who were in contact with people who tested positive for Covid-19); 134 026 people have completed the 10 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and therefore they are de-isolated.

The number of hospitalised people due to Covid-19 in the province stood at 1 636.

Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:

  • Johannesburg: 91 156 cases and 85 700 recoveries
  • Ekurhuleni: 51 004 cases and 49 635 recoveries
  • Tshwane: 52 046 cases and 48 979 recoveries
  • Sedibeng: 15 429 cases and 12 005 recoveries
  • West Rand: 14 644 cases and 12 482 recoveries

  • City of Tshwane 1: Ga-Rankuwa, Mabopane, Winterveldt, Soshanguve, Rosslyn, Karen Park, Wonderboom, Akasia, Nina Park, Orchards, Amandasig, Theresa Park, Pretoria North (11 451);
  • City of Tshwane 2: Hammanskraal, Temba, Suurman, Dilopye, Stinkwater, Ramotse, New Eersterust, Kameeldrift, Pyramid/Rooiwal, Doornpoort, Kekana Gardens, Marokolong, Randstown, Kanana (3 825)
  • City of Tshwane 3: Atteridgeville, Laudium, Pretoria CBD, Hercules, Danville, Saulsville, Lotus Gardens, Pretoria West (16 138);

In the Tshwane district, the department reported 204 unallocated cases.

  • City of Johannesburg B: Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown, Parktown North (9 907);
  • City of Johannesburg C: Roodepoort, Constantia Kloof, Northgate, Florida, Bram Fisherville (11 778);
  • City of Johannesburg D: Doornkop, Soweto, Dobsonville, Protea Glen (20 999);
  • City of Johannesburg E: Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove, Houghton (14 849);
  • City of Johannesburg F: Inner City, Johannesburg South (15 897); and

  • Ekurhuleni North 2: Bedfordview, Benoni, Boksburg, Chief Albert Luthuli, Dan Kubheka, Edenvale, Endayeni, Esangweni, Itireleng, Kemston, Lethabong, Ramaphosa, Reiger Park, Van Dyk Park (12 586);
  • Ekurhuleni South 1: Alberton, Brackenhurst, Eden Park, Primrose, Germiston, Leondale, Dawn Park, Tswelopele, Vosloorus, Villa Liza (11 538) and

Sedibeng district 15 429  cases breakdown:

  • Lesedi: 2 015 cases;
  • Emfuleni: 11 749 cases;
  • Midvaal: 1 611 cases;

And 54 unallocated cases.

West Rand district 14 644  cases breakdown:

  • Mogale City: 7 561 cases;
  • Rand West City: 3 920 cases;
  • Merafong City: 3 059 cases;
  • And 104 unallocated cases.
