Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 4 839
As the number of confirmed cases increased by 272 since Wednesday, a total of 2 275 recoveries have been recorded.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 4 839, with 37 deaths and 2 275 recoveries on Thursday.
Department of Health spokesperson Kwara Kekana said out of a total of 15 064 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person positive for Covid-19) 10 895 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.
She said a total number of 308 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.
The department confirmed four new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 37.

– Johannesburg: 2 319 cases and 1 312 recoveries
– Ekurhuleni: 989 cases and 552 recoveries
– Tshwane: 614 cases and 323 recoveries
– Sedibeng: 112 cases and 28 recoveries
– West Rand: 436 cases and 60 recoveries
