Gauteng Covid-19 positive cases climb to 199 635
About 961 new cases have been recorded.

Gauteng’s overall Covid-19 positive cases climbed to 199 635 with 159 712 recoveries and 2 915 deaths thus far, according to figures published by the Department of Health.
On a statement published on Monday, the Gauteng province recorded 961 new cases on Sunday.
The Department of Health said out of 102 847 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 80 788 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.
The number of hospitalised people due to Covid-19 in the province stood at 3 688.
Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:
- Johannesburg: 80 395 cases and 67 899 recoveries
- Ekurhuleni: 44 778 cases and 41 290 recoveries
- Tshwane: 13 397 cases and 8 577 recoveries
- Sedibeng: 12 786 cases and 8 277 recoveries
- West Rand: 12 739 cases and 10 419 recoveries

On the repeated areas in the stats, the department has not yet clarified on why these suburbs were mentioned more than once.
