Gauteng fugitive murder suspect re-arrested three years later

After allegedly robbing and killing a man in 2019, the man was on the run for three years.

A murder suspect who vanished after being granted bail was recently re-arrested by Ivory Park SAPS investigators in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Captain Ben Matimulane, the suspect, Sello Peter Senyatsi, appeared at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court, where he requested bail for an alleged robbery and murder that occurred in 2019.

The suspect was on the run after being granted bail in the same year.

“He was one of four suspects who shot and killed a man in Extension Two, Ivory Park.

“The Ivory Park SAPS Serious Violence Group was able to identify the alleged perpetrators through a network of people who wanted to see justice prevail.

“It remains unclear what the murder’s purpose was. Senyatsi is due to appear in court shortly. The SAPS insists that he should not be freed. They believe that he should remain in custody without bail,” says Matimulane.

Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of Ivory Park SAPS, has welcomed this successful tracing.

“This man and his alleged three accomplices have to account for what happened on that fateful day in May 2019,” says Ngcobo.
