Gauteng soap actor arrested for murder set to appear in court

A man who reportedly played in a number of South African soap operas is accused of killing his partner.

A 50-year-old Norkem Park man will appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court this morning after he allegedly shot and killed his 29-year-old partner last week.

The man, who was discharged from hospital yesterday, was arrested for murder and the possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira, police were called to a Norkem Park property on April 13.

“When police arrived at [the] house they discovered the body of a 29-year-old man in a cottage on the property. The suspect (50) was still on the scene and found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

“He was arrested and taken to Tembisa Hospital under police guard after it was found he had taken an overdose of tablets,” explains Ferreira.

It is believed the suspect was an actor who featured in a number of South African soap operas.

“The motive behind the murder will form part of a detailed police investigation.”
