Gauteng’s Covid-19 active cases stand at 16 473

Some 318 new cases recorded.

Gauteng’s overall Covid-19 positive cases climbed to 225 181 with 204 090 recoveries and 4 618 deaths thus far, according to figures published by the Department of Health.

This saw the province having about 16 473 active cases.

The Gauteng province recorded 318 new cases on Sunday.

The Department of Health said out of 146 826 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 128 991 people have completed the 10 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.
The number of hospitalised people due to Covid-19 in the province stood at 1 758.

Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:

  • Johannesburg: 89 729 cases and 83 853 recoveries
  • Ekurhuleni: 50 307 cases and 48 922 recoveries
  • Tshwane: 50 659 cases and 47 311 recoveries
  • Sedibeng: 15 223 cases and 11 766 recoveries
  • West Rand: 14 418 cases and 12 238 recoveries

  • Merafong City: 3 012 cases;
  • And 104 unallocated cases.
