Going up: Eskom announces daily stages 5 and 6 power cuts
More power woes for South Africans as we head into the festive season.

Eskom announced increases in the load-shedding stages during the early hours of the morning.
Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says the increase is ‘due to insufficient generation capacity and the need to further replenish emergency reserves’.
The embattled power utility’s continuous struggle to meet demand means that South Africans will be subjected to stage 5 between 05:00-20:00 and stage 6 between 20:00-05:00 until at least Saturday morning.
“Eskom will closely monitor the power system and communicate any changes to load-shedding should it be required,” Mokwena adds.
Wednesday, 29 November 2023:
Due to insufficient generation capacity and the need to further replenish emergency reserves, Stage 5 loadshedding will be implemented from 05:00 today until 20:00.
