A 28-year-old woman, Bianca Booysen, was fatally assaulted, allegedly by her boyfriend, at their home on a farm outside Graaff-Reinet.

The Graaff-Reinet police attended to the call-out at about 05:10 on February 3.

According to her boyfriend, Hendrik Williams (34), he woke up to find Booysen unresponsive. She was declared dead by emergency medical services on the scene.

Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the spokesperson for the Eastern Cape Police, says that Williams was arrested on the scene and detained for the murder of Booysen.

Williams appeared in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court on February 5 and will again appear in court today for his formal bail application.
