Granddad allegedly raped granddaughter in KZN

A man (60) has been arrested after allegedly raping his granddaughter (15) while her grandmother was asleep in the same house in Mt. Moriah, KwaMashu in KwaZulu-Natal.

It was believed the man was intoxicated when he entered the girl’s room, where he proceeded to rape the unidentified victim last Friday, Phoenix Sun reported.

Phoenix Police Station commander Brigadier GP Makoba said the elderly man allegedly threatened his granddaughter, who remained silent during the ordeal.

After the teen told her grandmother about the incident, they reportedly rushed to the police station, where a case of rape was opened.

The accused appeared in court on Monday. The case has been postponed.

In a separate incident, a man was sentenced to life in prison for raping his 12-year-old granddaughter in June last year.

Between January 2008 and February 2013, the man repeatedly raped the 12-year-old, gave her money and said he would kill her should she tell anyone, police said.
