Guard shot and wounded during CIT robbery in KZN

A guard was shot and a CIT vehicle bombed during a robbery near a Pietermaritzburg fuel station.

A CIT guard was shot and wounded during a robbery in KZN on Friday evening.

The incident occurred near a BP fuel station in Caluza, Pietermaritzburg, at around 18:00.

According to KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service, a CIT vehicle was forcibly stopped and bombed.

“KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the scene where paramedics rendered immediate medical attention to stabilise a patient, who had sustained a gunshot wound,” reads the statement.

The patient was transported to a nearby hospital.

The SAPS were on the scene and to investigate. At the time, traffic had been backed up for a few kilometres.

KZN SAPS have confirmed the incident and said they would provide more details.
